Recognised as study group in 1996; granted research committee status in 1999.

Objectives

Analyses national divisions and unification processes, an increasingly inseparable aspect of world politics as we understand it with a view to enhancing our understanding of the political dynamics of divided nations; exploring the ways and means of fostering system integration of divided nations; enriching our understanding of unification process from a comparative perspective; recasting the political reality of divided nations into a larger picture of national (or ethnic) integration and disintegration and to look into theoretical, empirical, and policy implications; and providing open fora for mutual interaction and communication among scholars of divided nations, as well as to serve as an effective vehicle to form a viable epistemic community.
